When we hear the expression “censorship,” we often think of Russia, China, or Iran. But new developments, like the UK’s social media ban for under-16s or Estonia’s move against Russian emails, point to a different model for the internet emerging in Western and democratic societies. And while there may be justifications, for many, this could be viewed through a singular lens, what I call “creep censorship.”
