“What is taking place in the UK is not an isolated, temporary outburst of anger. It is a permanent shift, with consequences for the UK, the West, and the whole world.”
On July 29, a stabbing spree occurred at a dance studio in Southport, a British city in central England, north of Liverpool. Three children were killed, and another 10 injured. A 17-year old was arrested, whose identity, including name, was not shared publicly due to his age.
Almost immediately, protestors began clashing with police at a mosque near the stabbing site. Then, to the shock of many, the protests spread to other cities, targeting immigrants and Muslims.
The cause: Ali Al-Shakati, a fake name that was shared on social media, as the identity of the 17-year old attacker.
