In the past few years, Saudi Arabia has shed its old image as an oil leader and embarked on a journey to reinvent itself. From AI to chips to EVs, Riyadh is investing across the board to create a new economic engine.

While plenty of attention has been given to mega-projects like “NEOM” or “Red Sea Global,” one of Saudi Arabia’s boldest plans has received less spotlight. That is, to establish new geoeconomic power, the Saudis are moving to become a mining superpower.

This is a massive project with multiple aspects. Once plans become reality, Saudi Arabia’s mining push could begin to alter geopolitics in powerful and unexpected ways.
