The technology fight between the US and China is moving into a new phase.

The potential use of the “foreign direct product rule” (FDPR), covered here, giving America control of products manufactured around the world using US technology, like chips, raises the stakes to new heights.

But, this is only one part of a new fight between Washington and Beijing over technology, and the steps both sides are taking to one-up the other. In many ways, the real US-China tech war is only now beginning, making what has happened, from TikTok to 5G, just dress rehearsal.
