As Israel and Iran square off in the Middle East, threatening a regional war, a separate fight has already begun thousands of miles away, between the US and Iran in the cyber domain.
The presidential campaigns of Trump and Harris have been rocked by a series of coordinated and calculated cyber attacks. The first sign of the hacks was when US news outlets began receiving documents from an individual named “Robert,” who shared internal communications of the Trump campaign, including a report on the “vulnerabilities” facing JD Vance, Trump’s VP pick. The timing of the emails was no coincidence: they were sent just after Biden announced he would not be seeking reelection.
