🇺🇸🙃 Defending Against America: The Mega Shift Few Are Discussing
When the global leader becomes the global risk
How long has America called the shots for the world?
For most, the answer is since the end of World War II. However, the US became the largest economy in the world in 1890, decades before global wars tore regions apart. This means, that for almost 150 years, America’s economy has “commanded” the international community, how nations think and act. For most, the biggest objective, even more so after the Cold War ended, has been to integrate deeper with the US and operate in lockstep with Washington. In the process, this meant, the biggest fear for most was colliding with America, and ending up in the same place as Iran, North Korea, or Venezuela.
Without saying it explicitly, everybody was focused on protecting their relationship with America at all costs - be it trade, alliance, or partnership. Even for the world’s “geopolitical outcasts,” the state of their relationship with America defined everything.
(“Geopolitical Outcasts” is an expression/concept of Abishur Prakash, The Geopolitical Business, Inc)
But today, something quite different is occurring. Instead of defending ties with America, governments have begun to defend themselves from and against America, driven by global economic upheaval.
