While all eyes are on oil and gas movements through the Strait of Hormuz, the critical chokepoint, a separate commodity is also being squeezed. It underpins everything from technology to healthcare. Already, several Asian chip makers have warned about a dangerous shortage of this commodity. Without new stocks, global chip production could be permanently disrupted, causing a new fracture.
